Broncos forward pleads guilty of dangerous driving fronts court

A Brisbane Broncos forward has pleaded guilty to grabbing the steering wheel of a car in which he was a passenger, causing it to swerve across two lanes of traffic.

Teui “TC” Robati, 19, appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle in the inner-Brisbane suburb of Bowen Hills this month.

Police said Robati was a passenger in a Ford Focus travelling along St Pauls Terrace about 9.20pm on Sunday, September 5. The driver was a 19-year-old woman.

Robati “pulled the steering wheel, causing the vehicle to swerve across two lanes” near the intersection with Amelia Street.

The driver regained control of the car and avoided any collision, according to police.

The Ford Focus continued down St Pauls Terrace before stopping suddenly. Police officers intercepted the car a short time later between King Street and Alexandria Street.

The female driver has not been charged.

Robati was fined $1000.
