Man airlifted to hospital after Qld underground mine collapse

A man trapped in an underground mine collapse has been freed and airlifted to hospital in a serious condition.

Emergency services, including critical care and a rescue helicopter, were called about 12am on Wednesday after the mine collapse north of Emerald in Central Queensland.

Paramedics assessed three patients. Two were rushed to hospital.

The man was airlifted to Rockhampton Hospital with pelvic and leg injuries.

A second patient was assessed for critical injuries while a third patient was taken to Emerald Hospital in a stable condition following a medical event.
