Record high for Victoria with 847 COVID-19 cases one death
Victoria recorded 847 new cases and one death from COVID-19 on Saturday morning, with new research showing COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy has fallen to the lowest levels since Australia’s rollout began.
There were 37,220 vaccination doses administered across Friday, with more than 59,342 tests completed. Victoria now has7611 active cases.

Vaccine fears have plunged to a record low, with only 9 per cent of Australians objecting to the jabs, compared to 29 per cent in the early phase of the rollout.
The Resolve Political Monitor, conducted exclusively for The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age by research company Resolve Strategic, finds only 4 per cent of people say they are “not very likely†and 5 per cent say they are “not at all likely†to be vaccinated.
The research comes after vaccine manufacturer Pfizer assured Australia it will receive 9 million doses of its COVID-19 vaccine next month, providing certainty after state and territory governments were warned of a potential shortfall of mRNA vaccines in October.
A childcare centre in Melbourne’s south-east is the latest tier-1 exposure site, with some visitors to a supermarket and butcher in the city’s inner north potentially required to isolate for 14 days.
The 123KIDS Early Learning Centre in Hampton Park, around 36 kilometres south-east of the Melbourne CBD, has been listed as a tier-1 exposure for coronavirus on September 22 and 23. Those who visit a tier-1 site must isolate for two weeks and get tested immediately.
Health authorities have also listed the Brunswick SUPA IGA and Madina Halal Meats Brunswick - both on the suburb’s busy Sydney Road - as tier-2 exposure sites on September 16. Some staff and patrons will be required to isolate for 14 days and will be directly contacted by the Department of Health.
A number of exposure sites have been listed in the regional Victorian towns of Wodonga, Warrnambool, Camperdown, Terang and Shepparton. There are now 604 exposure sites across Victoria listed by the Department of Health.
